Description
Meningioma brain tumour. Gross specimen of a brain affected by a meningioma brain tumour (white, lower left). This is a tumour of the meninges, the membranes that line the surface of the brain. It is benign (non-cancerous), so does not spread, but its growth can put pressure on surrounding brain tissues. This can lead to symptoms ranging from headaches to seizures and sensory disturbances. The tumour can be removed surgically in some cases, leading to a complete cure.
