Description
Membrane bioreactor sewage treatment. This system is designed to clean and recycle the sewage produced by the building above. This sewage includes bath, toilet, shower, sink, dishwasher and washing machine water. A membrane bioreactor use bacteria to digest the organic matter in the sewage, and membranes to separate the water from the contaminants. The water is then treated with ultraviolet light and ozone, and pumped back into the building. This sewage treatment system is part of The Solaire, an ecofriendly residential building in New York City, USA, that opened in 2003.
