Artist's Description
Malay Archipelago, satellite image. North is at top. This large island chain separates the Indian and Pacific Ocean, stretching from South-East Asia (top left) to Australia (bottom right). The main countries are Indonesia (across centre), Malaysia (upper left) and the Philippines (top centre). The main islands are Sumatra (far left), Borneo (upper left), Sulawesi (centre) & New Guinea (far right). The heavily forested, mountainous islands contrast with the deserts of northern Australia. Only land and coastal details are shown amidst a blue ocean.
