Description
Lunar rainbow. Historical artwork of a lunar rainbow that was observed in 1845 in Lenton, Nottinghamshire, UK. A lunar rainbow is formed by the same process as a normal rainbow, but is illuminated by moonlight rather than sunlight. As moonlight is much fainter than sunlight, the rainbow appears paler and colours are harder to discern.
