Description
Lunar mineral deposits, Hubble Space Telescope image. This image combines optical and ultraviolet filters to try and locate possible mineral deposits. The magenta areas are thought to be rich in titanium minerals such as ilmenite. This area is in Schroter's Valley, near the Aristarchus crater. This image was taken on 21 August 2005 by Hubble's Advanced Camera for Surveys instrument.
