Artist's Description
Leaf miner damage to a rose (Rosa sp.) leaf. A leaf miner is an insect larva that feeds on the internal tissue of leaves, leaving pale tracks where it has eaten as it tunnels (top left of central leaf). Many fly, moth and beetle larvae mine. Such larvae can cause significant damage to the plant, with severe infestations even capable of killing it. Infected plants can be treated with insecticides.
