Artist's Description
John David Barrow (born 1952), British cosmologist, theoretical physicist, and mathematician. Barrow has been a Professor of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Cambridge since 1999. His research interests cover a range of areas in cosmology and particle physics, including quantum and gravitational theories. His publications include co-authorship of 'The Anthropic Cosmological Principle' (1988). He was elected Fellow of the Royal Society in 2003, and was awarded the Faraday Prize in 2008 for his work on science popularisation. Photographed in 2007, in Barrow's office at the Centre for Mathematical Sciences, Cambridge, UK.
