Description
Jack Schultz (1904-1971), US geneticist. Schultz obtained his doctorate from Columbia University in 1929. He carried out research on the genetics of the fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster) and on human chromosomes and embryology. He worked at the California Institute of Technology from 1929 to 1936 and 1941 to 1942. He then worked at the Institute for Cancer Research, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from 1943 to 1969. At the Institute, he led the Department of Genetics and Cytochemistry and was Chairman of the Division of Biology. Here, he is at the Woods Hole Marine Biological Laboratory, Massachusetts, USA. Photographed in 1928.
