Isaac Berenblum (1903-2000) was a Polish-born Israeli biochemist. He worked on cancer-causing chemicals, and was able to distinguish three independent processes occurring: initiation, promotion and latency. This paved the way for an explanation of the mechanism by which chemicals can cause cancer.
