Magnetic field. The magnetic field of a bar magnet has been here visualised with iron filings. The bar magnet is placed underneath a sheet of paper on the top of which the iron filings are scattered. The magnetic field of the bar induces a magnetic field in each filings, which then line up with the direction of the bar's field.
