Artist's Description
Iris Nebula dust clouds. Hubble Space Telescope (HST) image of pillars and clouds of gas and dust in the Iris Nebula (NGC 7023). The glow at top is from the nearby star HD 200775. Background and foreground stars (orange) are also seen. This region is 1400 light years from Earth, in the constellation of Cepheus. This is a combined infrared and optical image obtained by Hubble's Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS). The image was published on 1 December 2009.
