Description
Iodine in water. Test tube with the halogen element iodine present. Iodine is a purple-black solid. Although the aqueous solubility of the halogens is poor, iodine will form an aqueous solution if conditions are right for the triiodide ion to form. The colour varies depending on the conditions, but can be reddish-brown.
