Artist's Description
Husky sled dogs. Resting Greenlandic husky dog team staked to the ice near the edge of the floating (floe) ice in the midnight sun. This breed of domestic dog (Canis familiaris) is used in teams to pull sledges in Arctic snow. The dogs can pull the sledge at about the pace of a running man. This is a commonly used form of transport in Arctic regions. Photographed in April, in Greenland.
