Light micrograph of scalp skin showing a common wart (verruca vulgaris) with marked hyperkeratosis, acanthosis, and inflammatory infiltrate in the dermoepidermal junction. Common warts are raised growths with roughened surface, caused by infection with a type of human papillomavirus (HPV). The surrounding skin shows hair follicles with associated sebaceous glands. The scale bar corresponds to 2 mm. H&E stain.
