Heating an iron nail. Bunsen burner flame (blue) being used to heat an iron nail until it glows orange. The colour of the iron and the flame indicates the temperatures involved. The melting point of iron is 1538 degrees Celsius, while a bunsen burner flame can reach tempratures of 1570 degrees Celsius, but can be much lower.
