Description
Heat exchanger for neutron beam apparatus. Neutrons are fundamental particles found in atomic nuclei. Typically emitted by a suitable radioactive source or nuclear reactor, neutrons have applications in various areas of physics, particularly the field known as neutron optics. Here, a heat exchanger made of copper has been installed with a solid hydrogen target intended to study the interaction of very cold neutrons. Examples of neutron optics include neutron spectrometry, neutron diffraction, neutron scattering, and neutron tomography.
