Description
Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of Halophilic bacterium (Arcobacter halophilus). Acrobacter halophilus was isolated from hypersaline lagoon at Laysan Atoll, Pacific Ocean, Northern Hawaiian Islands. The hypersaline lagoon has a salinity of 2.5 times greater than sea water. The bacterium is a Gram negative, slightly curved rod that has a single polar flagellum. A. halophilus belongs to the episilon proteobacteria group. Some Acrobacter species are both animal and human pathogens. Magnification: x2,000 when shortest axis printed at 25 millimetres.
