Artist's Description

Foy-Breguet telegraph. Historical illustration of the telegraph developed by French physicist Louis-Francois-Clement Breguet (1804-1883) who was a pioneer in this field. He and Alphonse Foy developed the electrical needle telegraph in 1842, with further work in 1847. Artwork from 'Electricite' (1911) by Max de Nansouty, part of the 'Les merveilles de la science' series of 1867-1891 by Louis Figuier.
