Description
Dinosaur footprint. An inverted dinosaur footprint in sandstone, made by an unidentified swimming di- nosaur. The raised grooves seen here were made in soft mud on the bed of a lake by the animal's foot" as it swam. The footprint then filled with sand, which was later compressed into sandstone. The block of sandstone was upturned after falling from a cliff. Although the animal that made these prints cannot be identified, palaeontologists have deduced that it was probably fairly small (hip height of about 60cm), and was swimming in water under one meter deep."
