Former US Navy base. Satellite image of the docks area of the Philadelphia Naval Business Center, a former US Navy base in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. North is at top. The US Navy base closed in 1995, but mothballed ships are still stored here and some naval work continues. Most of the area has been converted to a business park. The docks are on the Delaware River (across bottom). The Franklin D. Roosevelt Golf Course (upper frame) and Citizen's Bank Park baseball stadium (round, top right, built 2002-4), are also seen. A major road (Interstate 95) runs across centre. The area shown is about 3.5 kilometres across. Image taken by the Ikonos satellite, which launched in 1999.
