Description
Florida Everglades, USA, satellite image. This is the southern tip of the Florida Peninsula. Water is black and vegetation is green. Most of the area is wetlands rich in animal and plant life. Part of the Everglades National Park runs across bottom. Roads and canals (straight lines) include the road next to the Tamiami Canal (across centre) and part of the Miami Canal (across top right). Sea water (blue) is seen by the coast at bottom left, where large lakes form part of the Ten Thousand Islands region. The image is around 75 kilometres across. Image acquired in visible and infrared wavelengths on 5 February 2000 by the Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) sensor on NASA's Landsat 7 satellite.
