Artist's Description
Failed Trident missile test launch. Trident missile being launched from the HMS Vengeance (S31) submarine during a failed test off the coast of Florida, USA, on 19th June 2016. Trident missiles are submarine-launched ballistic missiles that are armed with nuclear warheads and have a range of 7,350 kilometres. They are used by the UK as the Trident nuclear deterrent. Whilst the firing of this missile was a success, the missile itself suffered a failure during flight and the test was terminated.
