Peacock feather. Close-up of the eye on a display feather from a male blue peafowl, or peacock (Pavo cristatus). Around 150 of these feathers are grown by males before the breeding season, and they are raised in an impressive fan to woo females. Blue peafowl inhabit the Indian subcontinent.
