Description
Eroded rock pillar. Balanced rock in the Windows region of the Arches National Park, Utah, USA. This geological feature is known as a hoodoo. It is formed by wind erosion of sandstone capped by a harder, more resistant sandstone. It stands 17 metres high and the cap of balanced rock is estimated to weigh 3200 tonnes.
