Description
Heroin equipment. Equipment used to prepare and inject heroin. Heroin (diacetyl morphine) is the white powder usually sold in silver foil. In order to be taken, the powder is mixed with water and heated in the spoon to dissolve it. The heroin solution is injected into a vein using the needle and syringe. Heroin is an opiate analgesic drug which induces stupor and narcotic sleep states. Its danger is that it causes dependence and tolerance. Tolerance leads to ever-increasing doses being taken, often resulting in fatal overdose. 'Kicking' the habit can be very difficult, as severe withdrawal symptoms are frequent.
