Description
Products containing Epsom salts, the heptahydrate form of crystalline magnesium sulphate - formula MgSO4.7H2O. Used alone (left), it is a component of bath salts and is used by athletes to help relieve soreness in muscles. It can also be used as a purgative and a saline laxative. In Andrews Salts (right) it is combined with sodium hydrogen carbonate (bicarbonate of soda) and citric acid to make a solution for the treatment of upset' stomachs. The majority of magnesium sulphate produced is used in agriculture as a soil treatment.
