Description
Effervescent tablets in water. Effervescent tablets, such as those to treat the symptoms of indigestion, contain sodium hydrogen carbonate (sodium bicarbonate) and citric acid. When mixed with water, the bicarbonate and acid react to produce large quantities of carbon dioxide gas. The tablet dissolves rapidly, releasing any effective agent included into the water.
