Description
EEG brain study. Subject undergoing an electro- encephalogram (EEG) test to study his brain activity during mathematical problem-solving. The 128 electrodes attached to his head each read the electrical potential of a different part of his brain. A simple (and incorrect) equation is seen on the monitor at lower left, with his brain activity shown on the one at centre left. His reactions to equations reveal which parts of his brain control the ability to understand mathematics. Studies such as this allow insight into the learning process and give an understanding of the development of the brain.
