Description
Doppler radar dome. This form of radar is used to obtain information about how fast an object such as an aircraft is moving. The equipment beams a microwave signal towards the target, and detects the reflection of this signal. Changes in the frequency of the reflected signal are caused by the motion of the object towards or away from the transmitter, allowing the speed to be calculated. Photographed in 2009, at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam.
