Artist's Description

Molecular model of DNA methyl transferase-1 (DMNT1, blue) complexed with DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid, orange). DMNT1 transfers a methyl group from S-adenosyl methionine (red) to cytosine DNA bases. This process, called DNA methylation, can silence and regulate genes without changing the actual genetic sequence and so is an example of an epigenetic change.
