Description
Diamond cutting pattern. Artwork of top and side views of a pattern for a round brilliant cut. This is the most popular diamond cut, since it allows the maximum amount of light to refract through the top of the crystal, increasing its sparkle. The modern round brilliant cut has a total of 58 facets, of which 33 are on the crown (left) and 25 are on the pavilion (pointed lower half, right). The horizontal line of facets separating the two halves is called the girdle. Diamond is a naturally occuring form of carbon that is the hardest known mineral.
