Depression. A person suffering from depression experiences feelings of sadness and hopelessness. As a result they may become withdrawn and lose interest in events occurring around them. This image may also represent schizophrenia, a mental disorder which causes the sufferer's perception of the outside world to become altered from reality. Schizophrenia can cause depression.
