Description
Archimedean dental drill, made from steel. In early dentistry, drilling was used as a means of excavating decaying parts of the tooth. This type of hand-driven drill was so called because of its spiral mechanism; the spiral principal was discovered by Archimedes (287-212 BC). This drill dates from around 1900, England.
