Artist's Description

Density ladder experiment. The layered liquids are (from top): methylated spirits, corn oil, water and sugar syrup. The glass marble (bottom) does not float on any of these. A piece of rubber tubing (lower centre) floats on the sugar syrup. A plastic lego block (centre) floats on the water. At top, polystyrene and cork float on the methylated spirits.
