Degenerating Nerve metal print by Steve Gschmeissner. Bring your artwork to life with the stylish lines and added depth of a metal print. Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. The high gloss of the aluminum sheet complements the rich colors of any image to produce stunning results.

Artist's Description
Degenerating nerve. Coloured transmission electron micrograph (TEM) of a section through a Schwann cell that has lost it's axon and contains large amounts of myelin debris (dark blue) from the degenerated nerve sheath. A nerve's myelin sheath helps it conduct electrical impulses and when the myelin sheath is lost, nerve function is impaired. This is seen in nerve disorders such as multiple sclerosis (MS), where patches (lesions) of myelin sheath are destroyed. Magnification: x 3000 when printed at 10 centimetres wide.
