Artist's Description
Death of Imagawa Yoshimoto. Woodblock illustration of Japanese warlord (daimyo) Imagawa Yoshimoto (1519-1560) at the Battle of Okehazama in June 1560. Yoshimoto has been surprised at his tent, and is about to be killed. This powerful triptych prefigures abstract elements of the manga style and dates from about 1890. This artwork is by Toshihide Migata (1863-1925) who studied under Yoshitoshi Tsukioka.
