Description
Light micrograph in incident illumination of crystalline silver deposited on a copper wire. Copper wire is suspended in a solution of silver nitrate. The copper preferentially dissolves into solution, displacing the silver which is deposited as crystals on the wire. In time, all of the silver is displaced, leaving a solution of copper nitrate. This process is known as electrochemical exchange. Magnification x5 at 35mm size.
