Description
Crop spraying. Farmers spraying pesticide on a rice paddy. Rice (Oryza sativa) is one of the world's most important crops. In tropical regions, each field can yield up to three harvests a year. Pesticide chemicals are used to kill pests that may damage the crop, such as insects and fungus. The use of pesticides should be carefully monitored for effects on non-target organisms and to ensure that the chemicals do not remain in food produced from the crop. Photographed at Geoje, South Korea.
