Description
First Shuttle-Mir mission. The crews of Shuttle Mission STS-71, Mir-18 and Mir-19 pose for an in- flight portrait. This was the first joint mission between the USA and Russia for 20 years. The crew members are (clockwise from bottom centre): Gregory Harbaugh, Robert 'Hoot' Gibson, Charles Precourt, Nikolai Budarin, Ellen Baker, Bonnie Dunbar, Norman Thagard, Gennadiy Strekalov (dark shirt), Vladimir Dezhurov (pale blue suit) and Anatoly Solovyev (purple shirt and socks). Mission STS-71 flew on 27 June to 7 July 1995, carrying the Mir-19 crew to the space station and returning the Mir-18 crew to Earth.
