The most prominent feature in this amateur telescope photograph of the moon is the bright, rayed crater Copernicus (centre), 3850 metres deep. Directly north of it can be seen the eastern end of the Carpathian Mountains, which form the southern edge of the Mare Imbrium. The crater north-east of Copernicus is Eratosthenes; the two craters south & slightly west of it are Reinhold & Lansberg, which is just visible on the termin- ator.
