Description
Comet tails. Page from Astronomicum Caesareum describing observations of comets in September, October and November 1532. Astronomicum Caesareum is an astronomical atlas that was made for King Charles V in 1540 by the German printer Petrus Apianus (1495-1552). Apianus is well known for his comet observations, as he was the first to present a diagram showing that a comet's tail always points away from the sun.
