Columbus arriving at Guanahani. 15th Century Spanish engraving depicting Christopher Columbus' arrival at the island of Guanahani, which he named San Salvador, in the Bahamas, on 12th October 1492. This was the first land in the New World sighted and visited by Columbus's on his first voyage.
