Description
Coastal wetlands, satellite image. North is at top. This area, called Cabo San Antonio, lies several hundred kilometres south-east of Buenos Aires, on Argentina's Atlantic coast. Water is dark blue, and lush vegetation is bright green. More barren areas are pink, and sandy or salty areas are white. Coastal wetlands like this support a wide range of plants and animals, especially birds and fish. The area shown in this image is around 60 kilometres wide. The image data includes infrared wavelengths, and was obtained on 26 November 2002, by the Landsat 7 satellite.
