Description
Chimney stack simulator. Researchers in an environmental chamber testing external parts of a stack emission monitor attached to a stack simulator. The simulator, or virtual chimney, is used by people who monitor factory emissions to test their procedures under controlled conditions. It may also be used for instrument development by manufacturers of new continuous emission monitors. The simulator can generate a wide range of gas mixtures, including typical combustion gases containing oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitric oxide and sulphur dioxide with moisture present. Photographed at the National Physical Laboratory, Teddington, UK.
