Artist's Description
Charles Huskins (1897-1953), Canadian geneticist. Huskins's career was spent teaching at McGill University in Montreal, Canada (1930 to 1945) and then at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA. His research was on mutations in agricultural crops such as oats and wheat. He also studied the genetics of grasshoppers and mice. Photographed in 1941, during the Ninth Symposium on Quantitative Biology (Genes and Chromosome Structure, 18 June to 2 July) at the Carnegie Institution Department of Genetics (later Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory), New York, USA.
