Cerebellum and brainstem. Section through the back of the brain showing the cerebellum (top), medulla oblongata (centre), spinal cord (left) and corpora quadrigemina (right). The cerebellum controls sensory perception, motor control and coordination. The medulla oblongata controls automatic functions and relays messages from the brain to the spinal cord. The corpora quadrigemina is involved in vision and hearing. Magnification: x2 when printed at 10 centimetres wide.
