Centaurus constellation. 13th-century Islamic manuscript illustration of the constellation of Centaurus (the Centaur), with the constellation of Lupus (the Wolf) also shown. Stars are marked with yellow circles. The text is in Arabic. This manuscript page is from 'Suwar al-kawakib' (1417), a later copy of a work commonly known as 'Book of the Fixed Stars'. This work was originally written in around 964 by the 10th-century Persian Islamic astronomer Abd al-Rahman al-Sufi.
