Artist's Description
Cave painting: Kolo 2. Three figures are seen, apparently lying beneath a heavy bar, in this stylized African cave painting. Found at Kondusi by the Leakey family of anthropologists, they are called Kolo-type figures" for their distinctive bushy headdress. They are thought to be slaves or warriors, with ornamental "tails". This Kolo 2 group of figures occurs some 400 metres from another almost identical Kolo 1 group of three figures (see E448/033). In both cases one figure wears stylized plumes on his headdress, but this group appears captured or killed beneath the bar. Paintings from this site may date 25,000 years BP. Photographed near Kondoa in central Tanzania."
