Essentially thin-walled narrow tubes of a single layer of endothelial cells, capillaries serve to exchange oxygen, carbon dioxide and nutrients and wastes with surrounding tissues. Capillaries are microvessels linking arterial and venous blood vessels. Magnification x350 when printed at 10 cm.
