Description
Calcified toe bone. Coloured X-ray of the calcified big toe bone of a 29 year old patient. The calcium deposit is pink. The majority of calcium (99%) is usually deposited in the teeth and bones, with the remainder dissolving in the blood. However, metabolic or hormonal disturbances, or injury, can cause calcium to be deposited elsewhere in the body.
